TERMS

The rules for using the directory.

Short version: add Quartzes you actually run or know about, verify the ones you own via DNS, don't impersonate anyone, don't spam the directory. The longer version is below.

Who runs this

Headquartz is operated by Merendon Cloud LLC, a limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of Delaware, United States of America. When this page says “we,” that's who we mean. When it says “you,” that's anyone using the directory — signed in or not.

Acceptable use
  • Add Quartzes for businesses you own, work for, or have a legitimate reason to surface (e.g. a public service provider you're comfortable representing accurately).
  • Verify ownership of any Quartz you intend to edit by setting the DNS TXT record we describe at the verification flow.
  • Don't impersonate other people, businesses, or organizations.
  • Don't use the directory for spam, harassment, scams, phishing, or anything illegal where you live or where we operate.
  • Don't scrape, mass-export, or crawl the directory faster than is reasonable for a person browsing the site. We provide a sitemap and we'll consider API access in a future version — until then, ask before crawling at scale.
  • Don't try to reverse-engineer, defeat, or work around the bot challenges that protect the public submission and report endpoints.
Adding and verifying Quartzes

When you submit a domain through the homepage, we create an unverified, auto-generated Quartz from the public content of that website. Anyone signed in can do this — including for domains they don't own. The auto-generated row is clearly marked as unverified and pending.

To take edit rights, the legitimate domain owner verifies ownership by setting a DNS TXT record we display during the verification flow. Once we observe that record, the row flips to active and you become the verified owner. If a different person previously created the row as a loose creator, they lose edit rights at that point — your verified ownership supersedes their attribution, but their creation history is preserved as audit metadata.

You agree that any content you submit or edit (tagline, description, location, contacts, portfolio links) is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to publish it.

Removing your own Quartz

As the verified owner, you can delete your Quartz at any time from the danger zone at the bottom of its page. Deletion is permanent: every view event, click event, search hit, report, and verification record associated with the Quartz is removed along with it.

If you delete an organization Quartz that has products in its portfolio, those products are not deleted with it — they remain in the directory but become parentless. The confirmation dialog lists each affected product before you confirm so you know what survives.

Visitors who haven't verified ownership can't use this path; they have the report flow described below for requesting takedowns of unverified or auto-generated rows.

Auto-generated content

For unverified Quartzes, the tagline and description are generated by a hosted language model from the public content of the underlying website. Those summaries can be wrong, outdated, or unflattering. The owner can correct them on verification; until then, the row is labeled “auto-generated” specifically so visitors know the content hasn't been edited by a person yet.

We don't claim copyright over the auto-generated copy. Once you verify and edit, the resulting content is yours, and you grant us a non-exclusive license to display it publicly while it remains in the directory.

Reports and takedown

Any visitor — signed in or not — can report a Quartz. The flow is in the footer of every Quartz page.

  • Unverified, auto-generated Quartzes filed for removal are deleted immediately on request, regardless of who's asking. This is the GDPR/CCPA safety valve — a non-owner shouldn't have to wait for review to remove a row about them.
  • Verified Quartzes filed for removal go to the verified owner's reports inbox for review. They stay live until the owner resolves the report.
  • Other report types (incorrect info, impersonation, inappropriate content) queue for the team and the owner. We may remove or hide rows that violate these terms while we investigate.
Service availability

Headquartz is provided on a best-effort basis. We don't promise uninterrupted service or any specific uptime in v1, and we may change, suspend, or discontinue features. We won't intentionally break paid features without notice — there are no paid features in v1.

No warranty

The directory is provided “as is.” We don't warrant that the content of any Quartz is accurate, current, or fit for any particular purpose. You use the directory at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Merendon Cloud LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits or revenue, arising out of your use of the directory. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these terms is limited to whatever you paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which, in v1, is zero.

Changes

We'll update these terms when the directory's behavior changes meaningfully. Material changes get a note on the changelog and a refreshed “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the directory after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States of America, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If a dispute can't be resolved informally — and we'd rather it be — it goes to the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
